Improving renders with a world environment

materialsWhen rendering with a world environment, your scene is illuminated with an image, creating a realistic lighting setup. This article requires the Node Wrangler.


New file

Start by opening Blender and create a new file using the General link.

  1. Select the Shading workspace.
  2. In the Shading Editor, select World from the drop-down menu.
  3. Add a Texture > Environment Texture.
    1. Click the Open Image button to browse for a sky texture.
  4. With the Environment Texture node selected, press Ctrl+T to automatically add the Texture Coordinate and Mapping nodes.

You can adjust the Strength and the Z Rotation to change the brightness and direction of light.
